We have an opportunity for an Estimator to join our Procurement Department based at our head office in Kelowna. The Estimator’s primary responsibility is to estimate and manage the daily details of each project, including purchases, sub-contracting, changes, and coordination of office and field activities during the construction period. This role is responsible for accurate estimating of assigned Projects, purchasing materials, and sub-contracts economically and expeditiously.


Although this position reports to the Procurement Manager, it also interacts directly with the Project Managers, Development Managers and Site Superintendents and acts as a mediator when discrepancies arise.  This role also liaises, consults, and communicates with external professionals, such as engineers, architects, owners, suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and sub-contractors, and city inspectors, during the various phases of the construction projects.

  • Maintain current, accurate record of historical costs, Accuracy of quantity take-offs


Key Responsibilities


  • Project Estimating - 40%
  • Monitoring & Reporting - 25%
  • Supplier & Sub-trade Communications - 25%
  • Other (meetings and training etc.) - 10%


The successful candidate will be an organized problem solver, be a clear communicator with strong writing skills, have a customer focused approach to their work with an ability to adapt their style, re-prioritize effectively and respond to change positively.

If you have:


  • A high school diploma, GED or other equivalent qualification
  • Completion of a one- to four-year college program in Architectural or Engineering technology or a closely related discipline would be preferred
  • Experience in wood frame residential construction preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and background in construction industry, including minimum 3 years’ experience in estimating, specifically with the following:
    • National Building Codes (building specifications)
    • Budgeting
    • Quantity surveys
    • Estimation of materials, labor, equipment, and sub-contractor work
    • Microsoft Excel, Blue Beam, Procore
